General Information
_ A Single Head Genesys camera consist of a Gantry, a
Collimator Storage Unit and two End Stands which support a Patient
Table
_.A new camera will come with an Atlas Electronics Rack and a
Pegasys Ultra Processing workstation.
_A refurbished camera may come with either (1) an Atlas and Pegasys
Ultra, or (2) with a Pegasys Tower Electronics Rack and Processing
Terminal.
_Both new and refurbished Single Head Genesys cameras come with a
mobile Acquisition Terminal.
_At the beginning of an installation, GME installers will pour a thin
(approximately 1/2") self-leveling epoxy pad and then mount two
rails on the pad. Installers will then place the Gantry so it will
translate along the rails.
_Installers will place the Head and Foot End Stands at the ends of
the epoxy pad and place the Patient Table on the End Stands.
Installers will align the End Stands so the Patient Table will be
exactly in the center of the Gantry rings. They will then anchor the
End Stands. See illustration on page
figure 1-3.
_The Gantry supports a gamma radiation sensitive Detector. The
Detector collects image data from patients who have been injected
with small amounts gamma emitting radionuclides.
_A new Single Head Genesys camera comes with an Epic (digital)
detector. A refurbished camera may come with either an Epic or an
Analog detector.
_For Emission Computed Tomography (ECT) studies, the Detector
rotates around a patient lying on the Patient Table.
_For Total Body studies, the detector will make two scans along the
length of the patient. One scan will be from above, and the other
from below, the Patient Table.
Collimator Storage Unit
_ The Collimator Storage Unit may contain up to four
collimators. Collimators are 21" x 26" (53cm x 66cm) sheets of lead
of various thicknesses weighing between 110 and 295 lbs (50 and 134
kg).
_GME installers will position the Collimator Storage Unit on the
epoxy pad at a specific location behind the Head End Stand. |
